In his latest novel, "I, Nausicaa,“ it's the year 2038, and the main character must find a vaccine to save her cohort from being wiped out by a deadly virus designed to destroy open source artificial beings like herself. Along the way, Nausicaa gets help from Kiernan, a wheelchair-bound heroin addict in recovery whose former Japanese love, Yūji, holds the key to Nausicaa's survival.
His first novel, "Lovers & Comrades," is set in China during the Second World War and explores the psychological dimensions of an American foreign service officer who returns to the States after the War and is blacklisted by the State Department.
Robert Blair Osborn is a native of Seattle and grew up in Palo Alto and Berkeley. He studied intensive Mandarin at Beijing University in the late 1980s and worked in Japan for 7 years. He lives in Sacramento.
