Biography

I'm Milly Hunter, a Brit living in Austin with my husband, two teens, and our rescue dog, Ginger. I have an MSc in Journalism and a background working at the International Olympic Committee and running two small businesses. After being scammed myself, I became fascinated by the unsettling reality of how ordinary people can stumble into the dark undercurrents of crime and extortion, often while simply living their everyday lives. That spark inspired my debut cozy mystery crime novel, Scams & Scones—now in editing—the first book in The Whispering Kettle Murder Mystery Series. I’m also launching Scam Free Sanctuary, a blog designed as a safe space to share scam stories, with practical advice, expert insights, and resources to support others.
