Biography
Fresh off a summer at Northwestern University’s National High School Institute (“Cherub”) program, I became editor of my high school newspaper, A Touch of Class. I got the plumb assignment to write a story on changes to our school’s National Honor Society. I won first prize for a feature story in the state from the Wisconsin Newspaper Association. I’d say I was hooked then but I knew writing was my future from the moment I picked up a #2 pencil.
For most of my professional career, I wrote for others – news and features, press releases, messaging documents, ghostwritten articles, communications plans, etc. I’m still plucking the keyboard as a part-time journalist for a trade publication but am also actively trying to find a home for my Chicago-based true crime memoir. And I’m starting to pen a cozy murder mystery based on the competitive antics of a middle-aged ladies tennis team.
