Amateur Sleuth, Caper, Cozy, Middle Grade

Kitty makes traditional school visits using her Fina Mendoza Mysteries to introduce civics to elementary readers. She also presents her CIvics 101 Quiz Show, pitting kids vs adults, testing their knowledge about civics. (Lively!) She also produces the Book Club for Kids podcast, talking to readers in grades 5-7 about a middle grade novel. Kids interview the author and hear a reading from the book by a celebrity. FREE to LA County schools and libraries. Kitty also offers a Podcasting 101 talk. (Seems like everybody has a podcast: why not you?) Kitty covers equipment, hosting, style, discovery, and money.
Award-winning public radio journalist, writer, and TEDx speaker Kitty Felde hosts the Book Club for Kids podcast, named by The Times of London as one of the top 10 kidcasts in the world. The Los Angeles native created the Washington bureau for Southern California Public Radio. She covered Capitol Hill for nearly a decade, explaining how government works to grownups. Now she explains it to kids in a series of mystery novels and podcasts called The Fina Mendoza Mysteries. Kitty was named LA Radio Journalist of the Year three times by the LA Press Club and the Society of Professional Journalists.
