Biography
Marilyn Kay’s crime fiction writing began with a short story in the Bouchercon anthology, Passport to Murder. Since then, she has published three more stories in crime anthologies. She is currently seeking representation for her novel, Love Thy Neighbor, which explores love, hate, diversity and belonging from the POV of a rookie homicide detective.
Previously, Marilyn was a freelance journalist. Later, as a communicator for Ontario’s Child Welfare Secretariat, she received an Amethyst Award for the team’s contribution to child welfare reform. Themes of diversity, youth and community continue to influence her writing.
Marilyn is a member of the Crime Writers of Canada, Sisters in Crime and the Mesdames of Mayhem collective. When she’s not engaged in creating murder and mayhem, she lives happily in Toronto with her husband, reads voraciously and FaceTimes with her daughter in the UK, under whose tutelage, Marilyn—to her surprise— has morphed into a Swiftie.
